EMBARGOED AREA

Area around village Kääriku, 11 km to south-west from Otepää.

TERRAIN

Otepää Upland - situated 120-210 m above sea level. Relative height differences up to 70 m. Between the hills there are plenty of marshes. Many tracks and paths. Percentage of open areas 20-30%. Competition terrain was used for Estonian Ski-O Championships in 1989.

MAPS

Laser colour-printed ski-O maps: field work - autumn 1998, scale 1:15000, contour interval 5m, size A4.
Competition maps will be distributed to team leaders at finish area after the last runner has started on February 18.

MODEL EVENT

The course is open from 10:00 to 15:00. The start procedure will be operating from 10:00 to 14:00 in Otepää, Tehvandi. Model event map scale 1:15 000, contour interval 5m, laser colour-printed.

There will be 3 loops and 2 map changes in men’s class, and 2 loops and 1 map change in women’s class.

EQUIPMENT CONTROL

Equipment changes are allowed only at map exchange area and at equipment control in the forest. The equipment to be taken to the forest should be brought to the marked area at the results board no later than 30 minutes before the first start on each day. Men's an women's equipment must be in separate bags labelled with the team's country note.

REFRESHMENTS

There will be water and sports drink after map exchange and after the finish on both days. During the long distance event will also be water and sports drink at marked control in forest on each loop. There will be no refreshment control in the forest during the relay event. Team officials are allowed to deliver refreshments to their competitors at map exchange.

SKI WAXING and TESTING

It is possible to hold and wax skis at the hotels. Ski waxing room with electricity and tables but no special equipment is available at the start/finish area.

PRIZEGIVING

The first 6 competitors in individual long distance and 3 best relay teams will receive prizes. Prizes will be awarded at the finish area.

ELECTRONIC PUNCHING

The EMIT electronic punching system will be used.

SHOWERS and TOILETS

Showers are not available at finish area. There are dressing rooms and toilets at 150m from the start/finish area. Showers are only at hotels.

TRANSPORT

Organizers will provide free transport from hotels to competition area and back during the World Cup. Also, there is minibus transport for team leaders between hotels and event centre to take part in team leaders' meetings.

ENTRIES

Deadline for final entry to the individual event (form D) is February 16, 12:00.
Deadline for nominal entry to the relay (form E) is February 17, 15:00.
Deadline for changing competitors' names for the relay (form F) is February 18, 9:00.
NB! Please bring entry forms D, E and F to the competition office.
