The Orienteering Club Põlva Kobras is one of the biggest, most active and successful clubs in Estonia. Orienteering has been popular in Põlva for over 30 years already. So far the biggest event organised here has been the International School Federations`(ISF) World Championship in 1995.

Established 16.12.1962 as Estonian SSR Orienteering Federation. Reorganized to Estonian Orienteering Federation 19.12.1987. EOF is member of International Orienteering Federation (IOF) since 27.09.1991. In 2001 EOF membership is 39 clubs with over 2000 members. Total number of active orienteerers in Estonia is 4000-5000. Most popular in Estonia are foot- and ski-orienteering. National Championships were held for first time in foot-orienteering 27.09.1959 and in ski-orienteering 14.02.1960
